Sure Days rebounded from last week's pile of poop but they got 1.7 's & a 1.6 during Sweeps, not good no matter how you spin it :shame: This is going to be a looooong & boring summer. Edited by trojangal, May 21 2015, 09:40 PM.

Days is stable, the bleeding apparently has stopped, but these are still garbage numbers...not good enough for renewal. |

The JJ/Eve/Paige reveal is pretty juicy and probably a reveal the people that have been watching have been waiting for. Ratings should go up or stay steady...Curious/scared what Tomlin had planned for the Summer. |

They are stable. And they may even be fine for this week. Let's place bets on June. I continue to be impressed that they haven't gone below 2 million in the dailies. |

Not too bad for Days. The Marlena/Stefano showdown was the highlight of that week. |

The next couple weeks will be tough for DOOL. It's preempted 3X in 2 weeks, so just 4 episodes Memorial Week and only 3 shows the following week. Plus I think later in June, they "lose" two more episodes as daytime golf mucks up the schedule and DOOL airs in odd timeslots or is outright preempted on many stations (including mine) on the West Coast. Kind of hard to build on anything with erratic scheduling. Sorta makes me think thay purposely discount the May Sweeps, since "live viewing + 3day" ratings will collapse the following few weeks. ETA: Just remembered that golf moves to Fox this year, so no NBC coverage this summer. Edited by dooldooldool, May 22 2015, 02:55 AM.

I have a feeling the summer is going to be brutal for Days. They're already down 142,000 viewers since last year, and it's supposed to be May Sweeps! I'm terrified for the next three months. |

Y&R is still doing well under Pratt. GH's total numbers are decent but their demos don't look good. I can imagine men liking this type of story telling. |

The show has been better as of late, compared to how it was in say March or April. That's not saying much. It was fun (for me..) to watch the Stefano/Marlena scenes, and this Beige stuff this week isn't perfect, but it is far better than it's been in a while. We have this week that's airing now, which should be stable, or maybe even a bump, and then we have that dreaded summer coming at us. The first half is fully TomSell, and the first break we have from their tripe should be in August if I'm correct. That means June/July is going to be bumpy, and that 2 million mark very well could shatter before it's all said and done. If the new writing team doesn't work, and the returns don't cause much of a bump in the ratings, Days is in deep trouble. There is no imminent decision coming right now, but it will sneak up quickly. Higley and Griffith are getting a show that has been sliding into the abyss for over 18 months, and they have less than half that time to increase numbers to the point the show is safe. I wouldn't want to be them. Even if it is better, and say it gets back up to a 1.9, it may not be enough. The quality may improve by 100% (which may make it watchable) and the writing may finally gel and the show may begin to feel like "Days" again, but that doesn't guarantee renewal. TomSell stayed too long, and the taping schedule is too far in advance for immediate fixes, so there's plenty of time left to bleed. Here's to the new regime! They have their work cut out for them! |

I think it's more about NBC's position re: scripted daytime shows than about actual numbers. Of course, low ratings would give them a very clearly visible reason to cancel the show, though. Edited by thepadange, May 22 2015, 04:02 PM.

You are right, but according to the "Wikileak" emails...... A top NBC exec (forgot his name....sorry....) was already considering cancelling Days in favor of a more efficient and cost friendly talk show. That was during the last renewal, and I cannot remember where the numbers were last time, but I am pretty damn sure they were much better than this (I think it was during Kristen's original return and reign of terror, and that was by far TomSell's best story and highest rated months). Right now, we are far below that threshold, so something has gotta give. I think if the new team and cast changes can shake things up and get the 18-49 ratings competitive with GH, and the 18-34 ratings rising to where they make an impact on other shows, it will start looking less ominous. If they can get their daily viewership average back up above 2.5 million CONSISTENTLY, and the ratings up to about a 2.0 average, Days will survive. A 1.9 rating is borderline at best and no guarantee of anything now that Days has reached it's big milestone. I dare say, and predict, a 1.8 or below at the time of renewal would likely result in cancellation, unless the demos are unnaturally high. We'll see, and Days has comeback from the brink before. I have been positive through the years, and I don't want to be all doom and gloom like an old testament prophet, but with the leaked emails, the 50th achieved, and the very low numbers, Days is likely in more trouble than any other time in it's history. It can pull out, but with a summer full of TomSell, Is it likely? On The Positive: If ANYTHING can pull out this show, the hype and returns over the 50th could do it. Days will get some publicity over the big anniversary, and if it's good, it could turn around. This is Days after all, it doesn't die easily, or it would already be gone. This show is like a member of my family and I want to see it turn around. I pray it does. |

Ted Harbert is that exec :) . The leaked emails kinda showed (if TH's position wasn't used as a "push" which is also possible) that even with relatively high ratings "Days" was/is at risk. If the network prefers cost friendly (=cheaper) talk/info shows, not much can be done (TomSell's summer or not TomSell's summer), IMO. Of course, it's great that the show seems to be trying everything they can for their 50th, so let's see and hope for the best :D . |

Honestly, the fact that they're only down that much is kind of amazing. That gives a nice little reminder to the fact that they were also doing very poorly last year. But I'm pretty sure they're going to bottom out in the summer. |

The timing of the head writer change should have happened 6 months before it did, that way they could have at least worked on some summer story lines that would inevitably tie into the 50th....I still think Corday acted too late, but hoping this summer isn't as bad....who knows |

Maybe TomSell stayed until the end of their contract (or close) because Corday wanted to save money. If he fired them earlier, maybe he would have had to still pay them and HiGriff at the same time. Also the ratings didn't crash fast enough to make a drastic decision. |
